A Somewhat Satisfying Outcome

Never thought one as slight as Mrs. Kelsy could ever make that much noise, but holler she did. Almost took the paint off the walls. Aside from causing a lot of iced coffee to get dumped all over, Mrs. Kelsy's screaming brought Philip & George Frey out of the storeroom and cleaning up the peaches and flour George dumped off the shelf looking for that snake.

Edna said George was free to go back to his hepe-whatever just as soon as he finished cleaning up. ''See that you take that snake with," says Edna. Edna then did what she usually does to relieve stress; she took her knives out to the alley behind the cafe and started throwing. Almost nailed the veterinarian on the way in to ascertain the health of the hog nose. Horstheldt oughta' know better than coming in the alley door. He's knowed Edna long enough.

Mrs. Kelsy was about calmed down with a fresh glass of milk and a complimentary piece of cherry cobbler, when Arthur Bridge noticed the snake sliding through the screen door as he came in. At least the snake's gone and the storeroom floor got a good mopping by someone other than yours truly.
