That's Arthur's joke. Arthur thinks he can step in for Maeve when she and Jay Lee get off on this trip they're planning. Art says he was a mess hall tray jockey in the service and he thinks he's still got what it takes.
Edna says, "Show me!" She's got a kid or a cousin lives in Missouri so that gives her the right to use their motto. Heck, Edna's got a kid or a cousin in every state in the Union, I'll bet. Anyway she says to have Art check in with Maeve about procedures and such. He oughta know the menu. Practically been livin' here since he retired from the post office anyway.
The United Church Musicians of Loon County want to have their annual meeting here. Edna said if they have it after the noon rush, she'll set 'em up with pie ala mode and no charge for the vanilla ice cream. The Church musicians--not all of them ladies at all--said they'd consider the offer over lunch.
