Well, it's here and it's gorgeous! The hot dog stand arrived, in boxes, on Friday. It has a silver gray awning with "Edna's Loon Center Cafe" in handsome black script along the awning skirt (it's just in the blog we call the Willy Nilly Cafe; our real name is Edna's Loon Center Cafe.)."Edna's ecstasy you might call it," according to Earl. It also came with manuals for operation and warranties, and special instructions a foot high. I spent the better part of last Wednesday filing papers for vendor permits and stuff. This weekend Jay Lee, Earl, and Himself--that's Edward C. Slurry--were in Earl's garage assembling the critter. It's about 8 foot long by 4 foot wide and stands, well, it's taller than me. Edna's hoping to have it up and running for next Saturday's Loon Center High football game. Jeez, we're gonna wow them out in the bleachers!
While Jay Lee was out working late with the guys in Earl's garage, Ethan and his Lady stopped by. They're a settled pair now since they fledged their first bird kids. What do you call bird kids anyway? We've been having a beautiful autumn, but someone has to tell that nice young couple just moved here from the Cities that you don't tap maple trees in the fall. Arthur Bridge said it's been the death of many a maple in this area & Horstheld the veterinarian don't treat trees or shrubs so there's no sense to calling him. "Only makes Henry surly," says Arthur.
A good week to all,
Jenn
