Edna's Emergency Response Team

Guys, I don't know where Edna got this idea from, but now the cafe has a rapid response team. Or sometimes we call it an emergency team or first responders, but that's hard to swallow because it's about hot. Yeah, hot. Hot dogs, hot coffee, hot chocolate. If there was a way to serve hot ice cream, we'd do that too. Edna said in this economy, we got to stop sitting around waiting for the phone to ring and get our bippy to wherever in town there was any sort of event and set up shop. I haven't run all the numbers yet, but it's looking a lot like we want Sunny to scout up some temporary help. Sunny said if we provided nifty looking hats or jackets, it would be easier. "Remember," she said, "we're at the affiliation stage of life." Is that kid really a kid?

One of our first quick response gigs was the impromptu Most Beautiful Ice House Contest on Lake Center Lake last weekend. Jack Johnsen or someone started hanging up lights on his shack then somebody else outdid him with palm fronds and so it went. Sonsen from the Co-op garage came up with the most versatile ice shack. He built pontoons under it. So if they ever do this again, there's a new category--Floating Ice House.

I should explain why I call it Lake Center Lake. I'm not sure which one it is because some of the maps say one thing and some the other. Sure as shootin' if I say Center Lake, somebody corrects me. Or the other way around. I give up: it's Lake Center Lake to me. Take your pick, and enjoy the sunshine today. Thank you for stopping in.

Jenn
