The Poppy "Theft"

Whew, like the old Roger Miller song, "Oh De Lally Lally What a Day!." Everyone and their uncle decided to breakfast out and we needed an emergency order of eggs. That's gonna be a bill for sure cause a lot of people are losing laying hens to flu or something. I hope Mr. Edward T. Slurry needs a business loss this year. Then there were deliveries. The suppliers are re-figuring their delivery schedules because of the Memorial weekend. We'll have the wagon out for the town parade too.

Oh, and the poppy theft. Edna had a jar of veteran's poppies on the counter by the register but by noon they were gone, jar and all. No donations. We were really hacked off. Well, turns out one of the kids was trying to do a Scout good deed; we found the poppies all nicely planted by the Loon Lake nursing home. The Vets's club said to "Aw, just let it go."

Good the evening crowd has thinned out. Thanks for your patience.

PS The prom was a success. The juniors want to do something like that next year. It was a barn dance with clothes the kids say they can wear again. Square dancing and barbecue, donuts and cider! Even the chaperons had fun. The juniors might also have a date-free prom. Inneresting.
