By which I mean the time between Christmas Eve and January 2nd of the New Year. Edna decided to reopen Friday morning. We're gonna have the same type of hours for New Year's. I was in the day after Christmas writing up orders for the menu and waiting on the insurance guy on account of the busted pipe. Along came little Mrs. Kelsy peering in the window even though the sign said we were closed. She just come from a meeting of the Loon County Consolidated Church Musicians, wanted to know if you could get a little coffee or something. Well, those Musicians meetings can get long-wined so I said that she should come in & we find her something. Just nothing that requires firing up the grill. Edna says not to charge anything if you feed anyone when the restaurant's closed so I didn't.
Then Jack the Old Home driver stopped in with his regular delivery except that it was froze solid. He had trouble with his truck so the Schwann's driver Ed loaded what was left in his ice cream truck. Good thing the Cafe isn't open. Jack got away so fast I forgot to ask him why it was Italian fortune cookies were printed in English and Chinese. I mean shouldn't they be in Italian? I'll try to catch him about that next week because everyone else wants to know too.
Happy New Year if I don't see you,
Jenn (holding down the fort)
