Maeve's Country Garden Magazine

Well, Maeve isn't a big reader but she really likes Country Garden and Kitchen Magazine. Now she thinks the cafe should have a kitchen garden. You know, have our own coffee trees and grow herbs. Edna had exactly one word for all of this:

"Where?!!"

Alright, she said more than that but this is a family blog and you do understand. Earl to the rescue with his little two bedroom house across the way from the dinner. Across the way? It's an alley but I don't like to hurt Earl's feelings. He says he's got space so Maeve was happy and Edna put away the throwing knives. Is this the time of the year to plant herbs? I'm not good at that. Friend once gave me a cactus plant that died because I forgot to water it. The Danish Lutheran pastor's wife gave me a prayer plant once. (We delivered her dinners when she was down with something reasonably non contagious.) It died within a week. Some of us just are good at growing things.

It's been dry in town for about a week but Earl says he's got enough water in his yard for a cranberry bog. That might be more realistic than coffee trees. It's been pretty dry for customers this weekend too. Of course there were the motor raft races on Lake Dulcinea yesterday and today. I was surprised Edna decided to stay open but she said there had to be a refuge somewhere for people who didn't want to watch mass drownings for fun. As usual, she has a point even if she is the boss.

Thanks for stopping by.
Jenn
