Sorry, that's hiatus. Honestly, I'm sorry. We didn't expect to be gone from the blogosphere for so long. Of course there's an explanation. Around here there's always an explanation--usually a lame one. Well, around the first week of December Maeve started sniffling, then Sunny, then Earl and I. By about the third of the month Edna said she'd had it, put us all on 3/4 pay, and called in the KPS, and sent us all home. That's the Kitchen Reserve Squad. Edna has this employee loss policy she carries through Mr. Edward C. Slurry. This is the first time she's had to use it but she wanted us all fresh as daisies for Christmas so she told everyone to take a couple weeks off.
Three quarter time pay? Edna said that if we'd all just stay home and resist the urge to go to Dorkmeier's Doorbuster Sales, we wouldn't need the other quarter of the pay check. Save it on the gas alone. Well, Maeve's Jay Lee did odds and ends shopping for everyone and brought cafe-made soups to us every other day. Even to Earl, who lives cross the alley from the diner. Think Jay Lee just likes to talk. The Reserve Squad, a bunch of carnival odds and ends themselves, did pretty well. Edna's right--people don't like the help to sneeze on their food. If the want other than salt and pepper, they'll ask.
As always, the Willy Nilly Cafe will be open through Christmas night to be with family and friends. If you can't come in, Merry Christmas.

Dear Jenn,
It just occurred to me that your voice sounds a teensy weensy bit familiar. Are you by any chance related to that gal from Alaska name of Mrs. Palin? You know, I really did like the way she talked, although I somehow think that her twin on SLN communicates clearer. Only watched her once, though, cause it's on way too late over here on the left coast. Best wishes, Trisha Rock
Dear Trisha Rock:
Sorry, I don't have any Alaska relatives just a third cousin in Nome, Wisconsin. I'm usually asleep when Saturday Night Live comes on because I usually open on Sunday morning. Thanks for stopping into the cafe.
