Ah, Quiet!

Readers, that can only mean it's set up time for the county fair. That means Edna and just about everyone else is setting up and selling hot dogs at the fair grounds in all that dust and heat and here I'm stuck in the air-conditioned dinner catching up on the books and ordering and sipping chilled coffee.

Yes, it's the 95th annual Loon County Fair-except that Arthur Bridge said it ain't! He claims no-0ne really knows so a few years back, and to Arthur that means 30 or 40 years, the fair commission made up a date. Gee, you'd think they'd know, say 1908, either we had a fair or we didn't. I think it's that old fire-in-the-courthouse excuse. Except that Arthur claims the fair commission never kept its records anywhere but the backroom of the post office building. It all gives me an appetite for that public TV show about the history detective people.

Thanks for stopping in, but do consider a trip to the fair, won't you?
