The Bats

Hi Readers:

Well, when I came in yesterday morning Edna told me the good news about the bats. I mean the two in the storeroom. We underestimated our Jill, the high school-age  waitress. She saw those two bats hanging from a pipe when she went in to get napkins. Sometimes it seems like half of life is about napkins. Anyway, she got Earl, a milk crate, and a tray in no particular order and the two of them trapped the bats and took them straight out the back and released them. Earl said they took off like a bat out of a storeroom. Wonder if they'll go find that Vitorio guy who trains them.

Earl gets sworn in as mayor of Loon Center later this month at the council meeting. I didn't make much fuss over this because his election was what you call a foregone conclusion. It was just his turn, you know? It isn't going to go to Earl's head. He said it's one of those things a man's gotta do like brushing his teeth. I always look to Earl for an original point of view.

Well, that's about it for now. Glad you stopped in.
Jenn
