It's Busy Here

Hi Readers:

Remember that the cafe will be open all day Thursday, Thanksgiving, in order to be with our families and friends. We'll be open more than just Thursday. This is our turn to take holiday hours. The cafe will be open straight through the weekend until about 6:00 PM Monday night "to accommodate holiday traffic," as the brochure says. The co-op restaurant on the highway takes Christmas weekend and we're back on for New Year's Eve. Big electronic sign board on the highway there sends people our way. That was part of the deal with the Chamber, help with publicity. The sheriff seems to think having one eating joint open each holiday prevents trouble and accidents and we make out in sales, so OK. I like to see people from all over coming in to town

Oh, and by popular request, we won't have eel pizza. Word got round we were planning that and just anyone and everyone who heard told us that was the grossest thing they ever heard. So, bowing to public pressure, Edna decided to scrap this little culinary experience. She was off grumbling about people being ignorant of their own history and stoning the martyrs who try to enlighten them. Edna takes quite seriously what she calls the civic responsibility of the restaurant cook in American society and culture. Me? I'm just a bookkeeper.

We're substituting a vegetable pizza for the eel entry. If you're in town, give us a try. Meanwhile, glad you stopped by. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
