Taking A Breather

Well, Sunday night and it's time to kick back and catch up. Nothing much happens on Main Street this time of day so we close early on Sunday nights except for what Edna calls "Those blasted three day weekends" like the one we're having next week. We'll have the hot dog stand out by the lake for the fireworks on the 4th. That will be Sonny with Taylor and, I think Maeve and Jay Lee looking after them. Sonny always attracts a string of hopeful young beaus should Taylor lose interest, which is doubtful.

Mrs. Kelsey's been taking Earl along on her tomato patch rounds. They do that Sunday evening and either Wednesday or Thursday morning. Earl was up at about 4:00 AM today to get in some quality time with his fishing rod so he wasn't too pleased to traipse around tonight, but Mrs. Kelsey wouldn't hear of him skipping a session. It's like, "Someday all this will be yours, Earl." Whether Earl likes it or not, he's become an heir apparent. "Father of all tomato plants," sniffs Edna. I hope they don't run into any of George Frey's tenants en route. That's George Frey of the Herpetology Haven, if you recall. The crazy guy keeps snakes and gives tours. He says local reptile tourism is all the rage some places. He's betting it catches on here. Been at it at least 5 years now and I think the Scouts come out once a year. Rest of the time it's field corn, oats, and soybeans for George.

I'm getting sleepy so I guess it's time to close up, go home, and fall asleep reading the television schedule. Happy 4th of July to all, in case I don't get back to the blog. Meanwhile, happy 28th of June.

Faithfully,
Jenn
