Sity Degrees and Sunny

And here I am catching up on the accounts. Indoors. Might as well update the blog since there's plenty going on in the shop. For one thing, we're mulling over the Thanksgiving menu. Old customers probably know our national holiday policy. It's simple. We're open. People are traveling and it's sort of a grand reunion time on a holiday so we spend it here with the family and friends. This year the Thanksgiving menu will be turkey with all the trimmings and you know we don't do it just that way every time. One year Edna decided it would be pizza for a change.

This year there's been a new wrinkle. Earl asked what we were going to have for vegetarians. Now the question didn't really come out of the blue. It came out of the minor scandal that broke out here that Wednesday we had a roast beef special. The butcher from over at Dulcinea came in that day. Well we buy most of our meat from Ed's shop and Edna was certain Ed wanted to taste what we do with it. Nothing doing. Why? Ed's a vegetarian. You'd think that was the sort of thing a butcher wouldn't want to come out, but Ed was real up front about it. "I just sell the stuff," he says. "Give me some nice Brussels sprouts and cauliflower any day of the week."

OK....

So Earl wants to know what we're going to serve for vegetarians. Edna has that end of the counter stare for what felt like forever and says, "Vegetables I guess." Then she turns back to the grill to flip a burger. End of story.

Thank you for stopping into the cafe. I want to get this done so I can get outside in the sun for awhile.
