Ta Whattie?

OK Gang, thanks for stopping in. "Ta whattie?" was Earl's reaction to Edna's addition to the Wednesday menu. Edna says it's a popular dish on Baffin Island or someplace and it's called tabouleh. Maeve wondered wasn't that the game they played on the lawn by the fairgrounds but Edna insists this is different. Anyway, we're soaking something called vulgar wheat that Stille Brothers down at the Q & C sold us in bulk. And we're hard boiling a bunch of eggs. Edna has good instincts about what people eat around here so it will probably be OK.

Now some of you know I used to write these blog entries on Sunday afternoons after the rowdy church musicians leave the diner. Well, Edna said she was gonna close on Sunday afternoons during the summer and that I was was supposed to get out more. She says to let the Co-op restaurant on the highway take it for Sunday evenings for awhile. She says, "Lookit, even Maeve has Ethan--that's her friend who's a hawk--when Jay Lee's on the road. Get a bird, get a life outside of in here," she says.

I'll figure out something. Maybe play tabouleh with the group at the fairgrounds.

Faithfully,
Jenn
