A Lot of Catching Up

Well, when we started this online version of the cafe, Edna said it was OK as long as it didn't interfere with the eatin' customers. So no-one's been here recently, but it's been wild getting that new hot dog stand running. Which we did, for the Loon Center High homecoming game. Then we were open last Saturday for the game with three kinds of hot dogs and chili. Have to tell you, I thought at times we wouldn't make it what with all the instructions and warranties and precautions to read about. Oh, and two kinds of hot dog buns. Did I tell you that. Edna's talking about having a mystery mustard each week too along side of the yellow ball park kind.

Then there's Maeve's adventures! She's been teaching a few hours a week at the community college on how to be a waitress. Maeve's the gal for it. She's going to be supervising some of the students at the school's snack shop too. Arthur Bridge will fill in here for her sometimes plus Maeve's niece Sunflower, Sunny they call her.

Last week Friday evening after we closed, Maeve and I went over to the Kitchen & Barn Show at the high school gym and we came back to the restaurant with enough good nutrition brochures to cause Edna to snort. That also caused the great banana bust up since that was the subject of one of the brochures. One of the guests became absolutely irate. "Do you realize," Reed hollered,"that bananas were injured and killed to make this brochure! Can you live with that?" Nobody had a good answer, but a lot of people tried. Edna said it would be awhile before we serve bananas again. She's not sure she can live with herself any other how.

Outside of that it's been a beautiful fall. Hope to make it back to writing sooner next time.

Jenn
