From The Archives

Hello Visitors:

Glad you decided to venture out in the weather. Since this whole Willy Nilly Cafe blog started as Edna's top secret recipe file--recall there's cheese aging in the walk-in frig now--it seemed only right to give out a recipe now and then to the reading faithful. Now this one started because the company that distributed a favorite cereal of our guests decided to stop selling it in the USA!

Well, we complained and investigated and experimented and we finally came up with the right proportion for three grain hot cereal. So, four teaspoons each of cracked wheat and cracked rye and one teaspoon of ground flaxseed to 2/3 cup of water. Boil till it reaches desired consistency and serve. Then comes the fun part! We serve with your choice of topping and mix: maple flavor flakes, bacon bits, olives, nuts or whatever else we got lying around. Complete with choice of juice or milk for $3.95. Vanilla soy milk 25 cents extra.

Even if you don't care to try this in your own kitchen. try to imagine what it took to get Edna to allow me to release the breakfast cereal recipe. Usually she doesn't give anything away, you all know that!

So, have a good week and come back soon, OK?

Yours,
Jenn

PS: You can substitute Bulgar wheat for cracked wheat if you want.
