The Foggy, Foggy Dew

Well Guests:

I don't know about dew, but it was foggy. All day. Come to think of it, it was sort of wet all day. Ordinarily when it's chilly and damp, Edna says let's sell ice cream or that cold potato soup stuff, vishy something. It doesn't sound right to me. Today was different. Edna was thinking the Cenex restaurant on the high way was starting to copy her style, so she said, "Let's do something different. Let's have a Friday special." This on a Tuesday, mind you! We sold out: tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwiches--tomato wheel optional--and fish sticks. It was crazy; people acted like they'd never met a menu like that. With four Lutheran churches in town, you might not know about Friday special menus.

That's about what happened today in town today. The rest of the week, since I wrote in to the blog, sort of disappears in my mind. It's like there's today and nothing else. Of course there's Ethan my friend the hawk. Ethan is still around and keeping the mice out of my backyard sweet corn. I never figured out what Ethan sees in me, but, as that kid book about the little boy on Nantucket says, he's my friend, is all.

Have a good week and enjoy your autumn. It's such a special time. Thanks for coming by the cafe.

Faithfully (usually),
Jenn
