Hi Readers:
You remember that saying or title or something that went, "That was then. This is now?" OK, "then" was last Tuesday, and for Pete's sake, we were snowed in. It's 60 here now. Being a small town surrounded by farms, we're very weather conscious. It's as much to plan the menus as to figure out whether we'll have a crowd. Well, you kinda never can know about when you'll have a crowd or not and all. Today we were straight through till about quarter to three. Then there was a lull. We'll pick up again around five.
And what's on special? Steaming hot soup. I don't even know what kind. I mean it must taste like something, right? Oh, Maeve said it was tomato. We do our own mix, another of Edna's secret formulas. Today it was Italian flavored tomato, Maeve said. Milk optional. Warm day, hot soup. "Why?" you may ask. Edna read in a David Balducci thriller that you drink hot stuff on warm days to cool you off and the opposite when it's chilly. I don't know about this but then there's rule 2 sub A of the kitchen rules, "Don't contradict Edna."
As you can imagine, we're having a royal mud season. Edna has a giant sign posted by the door< "Wipe your feet OUTSIDE! (or enter in the rear." There's a hose by the door to shower off your shoes. Hope the mud don't suck you tires off.
Thanks for coming by.
Jenn
