To-Go Days

Hi Readers & Everyone Else:

Yep, this is another "To-Go" day. It's nice out. People seem to want their orders to go. Don't know where they're eating but it's real quiet here in the cafe. I might just go back for coffee and toast on my break too. It's just that nice and Earl has some lawn chairs set out. He takes them in when we close. No, they weren't stolen, but last time we got lazy and left the chairs out, someone strung them up in an oak tree. The wiseacre claimed it was our new sky box. Yeah, and it took the fire department to get those chairs back down to earth. Edna was frosted till the incident made the Loon County Review being as how she's one of those that figure the only bad publicity is no publicity. I guess that's unless someone gets food poisoning. Wouldn't that be bad publicity?

Before I forget, the Easter menu will be two kinds of ham (turkey and pig), choice of baked potato or yams, peas or green beans and tomato juice, small salad, rolls and/or cornbread, and pie ala mode. For the hold outs we'll serve burgers with lettuce, tomato, and dill slices. "No fries today," says Edna. "It's Easter!" I never heard of abstaining from French fries on Easter, but there are those that claim I'm not all the best Lutheran in the world.

Also before I forget, the DNR is out recruiting loon lookers. Only qualification is that you have to be willing and able to sit in a hunting blind for a prolonged period of time, not get yourself shot, and count the loons that land in your zone. No fly-overs. You can talk to the conservation officer at the county building if you're interested. They supply free cookies. It's an offer you can't refuse.

I think the green grocer truck just pulled in. I better go for the count-in. Thanks for stopping and happy Easter and everything else. "Geez, Earl! I'm coming.!"

Faithfully,
Jenn
